I know what you are thinking, soul food in Southern California, but these are worth a try.
Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken Located down the street from Sony Studios on Culver Blvd you will find Honey’s Fried chicken. This hidden gem serves up some delicious Southern and Soul Food. This clean, casual restaurant serves all natural, humanely raised vegetarian fed chicken and has been named one of the top 21 spots to get chicken in America, yes we said America. In addition to chicken they serve fried fish, biscuits, mashed potatoes, hot cakes and wings.

Uncle Andre’s BBQ is small and clean. It offers traditional (not typical) Southern BBQ including fried chicken, ribs, cat fish, tri tip, bbq baked beans, collard greens and mac and cheese. This neighborhood favorite is a great place to go for chicken and waffles, that lovely combination of sweet and savory. They are open every day from 11 am to 9 pm, you will be wishing you had an Uncle Andre.
